Late at night on August 10, 2019, Toko Tasi was taken away from this Earth by senseless violence in Long Beach, California. A proud father to Bubbles, lover of all things music, who lived life to the fullest. The community is arranging benefit shows, which will be posted here, so you can support the family in their time of grieving. “Big love bredda’s and sista’s.”

Toko Tasi Premieres New Release Exclusive Rise&Shine

Toko Tasi brings positive vibes to his new Ep " Rise&Shine", premiering on December 1, 2016. The album features 5 new songs, Rockstar, Heavy Load, I'll Be There, Keeps On Going and Where Do I Go.

This is Toko Tasi's first release since his first deeply respected record Spiritual Life in 2008. Musical backing on Spiritual Life included members of Sublime, Slightly Stoopid, LB Duballstars, Hepcat, Iman of Mexikanz and LB Philieano! It was produced by Miguel Happoldt.

"Rise&Shine is about Growth" says Toko Tasi. "The new songs and sounds are more mature with a cool vibe. Strength, life, it's melodic. "Keeps on going" is a song bout my drinking. "Rockstar" more aware of myself nowadays. "Heavy load" times when I move fast an fot Times when ya move fast gotta slow down an help yo family an 1 another. "I'll be there" is communicating with yo love ones snd "Wat Do I Do" is bout do people love me, do I love myself. Big changes since Spiritual life.. my message is I'm now sober. The change that can make a big difference.. I came a long way."

Toko Tasi was born in Hawaii but grew up in Long Beach. His debut album features songs by members of Sublime, Slightly Stoopid, Long Beach Dub Allstars, Hepcat, The Aggrolites and Ikey Owens of Mars Volta. Guests include Half Pint, Miles from Slightly Stoopid, I-Man from Mexikanz and local LB hero Philieano. Produced by Miguel (Sublime, Unwritten Law), Scientist, Marshall Goodman and Lewis Richards. Toko Tasi is featured on the lightly Stoopid album, “Chroncitus”.
